The Pequonnock Valley Greenway in Trumbull is part of a larger connection of trails known as the Housatonic Rail Trail, and offers excellent walking trails and mountain biking trails through the forested area of the Pequonnock Valley and Indian Ledge Park. The main trail is well paved and offers plenty of room for both walkers and passing mountain bikers on their way to the side trails. If you’re a mountain biker – this is a GREAT destinaton. It’s perfect for beginner to mid-level bikers.
I had heard that this trail ends in Newtown CT and wanted to confirm this. My kids and I are very familar with the Trumbull portion. In light of the tragedy in Newtown I’m interested in organizing a march from Trumbull to Newtown to honor the victims, support the Newtown community and take a visible stand against gun violence (more specifically ban assault rifles and support more comprehensive mental health czre/supervision particularly for the persons who are insane and homicidal). Thanks and God Bless us all
Hi Greg. I believe you’re correct. The trail first crosses Whitney Ave, joines Old Mine Rd. and then crosses the Monroe Turnpike in Trumbull and goes to Spring St.: http://goo.gl/maps/P7sMx. From here you may need to cross some roads until you get to William Wolfe Park: http://goo.gl/maps/9zyeM. Past the park, the trail then parellels Pepper St. http://goo.gl/maps/lrKBQ. The trail ends at Swamp Rd. in Newtown http://goo.gl/maps/eaL5G. Hope this helps!
Let us know if you plan the event and we’ll help publicize.
Hi does anyone have a map of the different trails?
