Written by Amber DelPrete

Picking berries is not only a fun family activity; it is also healthy and delicious. Here are our favorite berry-picking farms!

Strawberry picking season is kicking off soon!

With June comes the long days of summer, the end of school year, and Strawberry Picking Season!  Will you be enjoying some berry picking this year?  Picking berries is not only a fun family activity; it is also healthy and delicious. Strawberries can be eaten as a healthy snack, added to your boring breakfast, whipped up a in delicious dessert or even added to a salad!

Strawberry season generally starts in June, weather permitting.  However, we have been reading that the strawberries throughout CT have been ripening earlier than usual due to the warm weather (yes!!).  Most farms have a phone number to call before arriving at the farm to ensure they are open to berry-pickers that day, so be sure to check before heading over.

We’ve compiled a list of our favorite strawberry-picking farms in CT.  Check them out here:

Jones Family Farms: Shelton, CT

Deeply Rooted Farms: Harwinton, CT

Lyman Orchards: Middlefield, CT

Bishops Orchards: Guilford, CT

Easy Picking Orchards: Enfield, CT

Dondero Orchards: South Glastonbury, CT

Dzen Tree Farm: South Windsor, CT
