1. Pine Lake Challenge Course — Bristol
Pine Lake Challenge Course is driven on building “positive growth for groups, individuals, teammates, private agencies, and community organizations.” This ropes course is located in a wooded area in Bristol. They have 45 different challenge stations throughout their course and it spans about forty acres.
There are different objectives at each station, some challenge teamwork creativity and communication within the group. Individual challenges include testing trust, balance, leadership and agility, making this particularly well-suited for corporate teams or organizations looking to build connections among their team members.

2. Nomads Outdoor Adventure — South Windsor
Nomads outdoor adventure is your confidence-building spring destination. This destination has six adventure trails and spans over nine acres of wooded area. They have different challenge difficulties for each differing skill level. Zip lines are utilized throughout the course and bring you to ground level after completion of the individual challenges.
The entire course is self-guided so you can move as fast or as slow as you want. This is a great place to set your own pace and challenge yourself along with your friends and family.
3. The Adventure Park — Storrs
This adventure park is located in Storrs and spans over 5 acres, really giving you an “adventure in the trees.” There are over 100 challenge bridges that connect to a variety of trails and 15 zip lines! If you chose to start directly in the middle of the course you will be greeted with the main platform that splits off into 7 different trail heads.
You can pick from a variety of difficulties to start with and hopefully move up as you go. You can reserve a two hour climbing session and most people can complete 3 trails in an hour. A more ambitious climber may complete up to 5 or more.
4. Soarin’ Indoors — Manchester
This is a great choice if it rains on your parade and still crave a little adventure. Soarin’ Indoors is located in Manchester and has two main courses: The low course, which is 2.5 feet off the ground, and the high course, which is 12 feet off the ground. They both consist of similar challenge elements.
Soarin’s courses include things like cargo nets, zip lines, wobbly bridges, and swings. They recommend that younger guest try the smaller course, older guest and adults may find it to not be challenging enough. They have trained guides walking the course throughout the duration of your stay to ensure safety.
5. Fields of Fire — Mystic
Fields of Fire is located in the pleasant woods of Mystic. They’ve been taking groups on adventures for a while and has become really good at it, creating diehard fans who keep coming back.
They have even added night climbing to their resume that offers a lighted challenge course for those daring enough to try it at night. Their park spans over 50 acres of land consisting of 5 elevated trails that has 70 platforms, obstacles and zip lines. Each course takes about a half hour to complete and is made perfectly safe because each climber is attached to a safety line.
6. IT Indoor Ropes Course — New Haven
The IT Adventure Course is the largest indoor ropes course in the world! It has tons of activities: Swinging beams, rope ladders, bridges, plank walking and cargo nets. They have 4 two hundred-foot zip lines, one of them 45 feet high! They also have a 50-foot free fall that you take to exit the ropes course.
Climbing walls paired with other interesting structures to climb (like the “Big Cheese Wall”), awesome music, and fun, bright lighting keeps the excitement high. And because it’s a part of Jordan’s Furniture, Dad can keep the kids preoccupied while Mom picks out the new dressers. It’s a win-win!
