Event Details

Do you want to make writing a priority in 2019? Are you working on a memoir or novel? If so, this collaborative workshop will provide you the necessary guidance, structure, and writer’s tools.

In this 6-week workshop, you’ll learn how to draw upon your life experiences to write a memoir or to craft fiction from your imagination. You’ll tackle your writing from all angles—as a reader, writer, editor, and with your eye toward publication. You’ll learn strategies to execute your ideas which will save you time as a writer and serve your story. You’ll study the craft of writing from weekly mentor texts (nonfiction and fiction).

Under the guidance of a working editor of two award-winning magazines, you’ll learn how to shape your writing to captivate readers and sustain their interest. We’ll delve into the ever-changing book publishing landscape and the many print and online magazines which could serve as homes for your writing or launch your memoir or novel. Writers of all levels are welcome. This is not a cookie-cutter workshop. No cone of silence for the writer. No stale handouts from the instructor. You’ll write at least a chapter a week. These six weeks will transform your writing!

Writer and editor C was named a 2018 finalist for the Frank McCourt Memoir Prize and is a Pushcart Prize nominee. Her writing has been published in the New York Times, Literary Itinerary, Memoir Magazine, Inkling Magazine, Brain Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers and Brain Teen: The Magazine for Thinking Parents. Her writing excellence has been noted by Proximity Magazine and The Southampton Review. She’s been featured in The Hartford Courant and has spoken on writing panels at colleges and universities. She earned her M.A.L.S. from Wesleyan University and received her undergraduate degree from The University of Connecticut.
