?The Cromwell Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas Open House on December 8th and 9th at the Stevens-Frisbie House in Cromwell.? ?
?Cromwell and the lives of its people has, from its very beginning, been geographically and culturally connected with the River. In the early days, the River was the conduit by which all manor of merchandise was delivered – both to and from the village. Today, the people of Cromwell are inspired by the River’s beauty and treasure their proximity it. Christmas by the River, the 201?8? Christmas Open House of the Cromwell Historical Society will ?celebrate the cultural connection that Cromwell has with this greatest of Rivers
Each room of the Stevens-Frisbie House will be decorated by members of the Cromwell Historcal Society and other Cromwell organizations including the Friends of the Cromwell Belden Library, The Central Connecticut Women’s Club, and the Cromwell High School History Club. Juleps & Viragoes, the society’s living history department, will present ?a Christmas celebration featuring products of the West Indian Trade in the ? Pa?r?lour while other rooms will display ?decorating schemes featuring fish, Noah’s Arc, the Christmas Eve Signing of the Treaty of Ghent, and much more. A collection of Light Houses will guide visitors to the Dining room where complimentary refreshments will be served. The gift shop will be open with gifts of seasonal and historic interest along with products of Connecticut artisans. While admission is free, donations to benefit the work of the Cromwell Historical Society are most appreciated.
