Got a Monster Sweet Tooth? Donut Crazy Will Satisfy Your Cravings

Is it just me, or is there always something holding you back from being able to eat whatever you want? In the fall, you’re detoxing from all those Halloween and Thanksgiving goodies; in January, you’ve made a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight; in the spring, you’re trying to get in shape for the summer; and in the summer, you’re trying to keep that beach bod in shape.

Talk about exhausting!

Sometimes, you just want a treat, no matter how unhealthy it is. For me, that’s usually pizza, ramen, or some kind of ethnic cuisine, but lately I’ve been in the mood for something sweet. I’m personally not much of a cake person, but every so often I really get a craving for a good donut. That’s where Donut Crazy comes into play.

History of Donut Crazy

Donut Crazy opened its first shop in Stratford in 2015 and has since sprawled out into a mini-pastry empire throughout the state. With locations in Stratford, Shelton, New Haven, Westport, Black Rock, and West Haven (by late summer 2017), you’re never very far from a gourmet, tasty treat.

Those who are familiar with Donut Crazy’s menu know why “crazy” is a part of the name. For those who aren’t familiar with the menu: Donut Crazy creates and serves one-of-a-kind donut concoctions that you’re not likely to find anywhere else. Though you might grab a Boston cream or strawberry frosted from Dunkin, at Donut Crazy you’ll find things like Birthday Cake, French Toast, Red Velvet, and Apple Crumby on their everyday donut list (the so-called “Dailies”).

In addition to these every day varieties, the shop also features a rotating menu of treats that change monthly and seasonally (the so-called “Crazies”). The May Crazies, for example, include the Cannoli Donut, filled with cannoli filling and topped with powdered sugar; the Doughboy, filled with an eggless cookie dough, dipped half in milk chocolate, topped with more cookie dough and powdered sugar; the Key Lime Pie Donut, filled with key lime filling, dipped in key lime frosting, graham cracker crumbs, and topped with a candied lime slice; and the Maple Bacon Donut, dipped in a maple icing and topped with crumbled crispy bacon, among others.

If you’re looking for something a little more savory for breakfast, they do also serve a range of breakfast foods including egg dishes, platters, and coffee. Even if you’re not into sweets, Donut Crazy can crush your craving.

That’s right, if you’ve got an event that needs a little added “crazy,” you can hire the Donut Crazy Donut Truck to to cater your event. I’m not sure what that might cost, but it sounds dangerous; definitely an invitation to a sugar coma. I’ll stay away, but it might be just what you need.
