DERBY, CT – The Derby Historical Society will conduct its “Churches by Lantern” program on Friday, November 27.
Using its signature punched-tin lanterns, participants will meet at Immanuel St. James Episcopal Church , 123 Minerva Street in Derby, doors open at 5:00 PM. The tour will start there at 5:30 PM sharp, and will also visit Derby United Methodist Church and the Church of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, before ending at the Second Congregational Church, coinciding with the City of Derby’s Annual Christmas Tree lighting at 8PM on the historic Derby Green across the street. A history of the churches will be given at each stop, and Christmas carols will be played on each church’s unique organ.
Tickets are $10 each, $8 for children 5 to 15. Although tickets will be sold at Immanuel St. James before the event, it is recommended that reservations be made in advance, due to the popularity of the event.
