If you’ve always wanted to experience old world charm with modern amenities, a couple’s weekend at the Stanton House Inn might be just the thing for you.
This CT bed and breakfast, located in Greenwich, sits right in the middle of fantastic bars and restaurants, perfect for any romantic evening. The Stanton House Inn offers top-notch accommodations couples seeking a get away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day stress.
Built in the 1840’s, the Stanton House Inn is a historical landmark. Originally, the inn was a getaway for wealthy families looking to get out of New York City for a weekend trip to Connecticut, and it’s continued to offer its charm to modern families throughout New England.
Plus, it’s in a great location: Greenwich truly is the “Gateway to New England.”
Your Home Base for a Wonderful Weekend Trip
The Stanton House makes for a great “home base” for anyone looking to explore Southern Connecticut or New York. This bed & breakfast is about a 10 min drive from the New York border, so there is plenty of possibilities for adventure no matter which state you prefer to explore (though we, of course, recommend Connecticut!).
The area around the Stanton House is jam-packed with great outdoor locales perfect for hardcore hikers and novice nature buffs alike, making the inn a great central location to see all of the beauty that southern CT has to offer.
The trails at the Babcock Preserve span across 4.1 miles of beautiful forest. The moderate trails here are used for hiking, running, and horseback riding. The trails may be long, but don’t worry: These trails only raise about 250 feet which makes this a perfect hike for anyone.
Just make sure to plan plenty of time to get around and back: You don’t want to miss your dinner reservation!
Audubon Greenwich is a facility where they help to preserve and protect 7 different types of animal. They help protect 686 acres of wildlife, which are primarily bird habitats. You can walk through each sanctuary from sunrise to sundown.
Visit and show your support for the preservation of some of nature’s most beautiful creatures.
The Mianus River Park spans over 350 acres of forest placed right on the Greenwich/Stamford line. If you and your partner enjoy walking your dog, mountain biking, fishing, or just walking through nature, I’d say Mianus River park gets the job done.
River Park is just a short drive away from the Stanton House, when you visit, make sure to give it a try.
There is an abundance of restaurants surrounding the center of Greenwich (and, therefore, the Stanton Inn). Some of our favorites include:
This Mediterranean restaurant brings the best foods from France, right to Connecticut. They are so dedicated to their French heritage that even their floors are tiled with two-hundred-year-old stone! Any meal here is sure to be one that you and your partner won’t forget.
Coast Seafood Restaurant & Bar show their culinary skills by having a wide-ranging menu. You can get anything from escargots to crispy duck, and they pride themselves on customer service to make sure you have the best experience. If you’re in the mood for a drink, they’ve got a whole menu of specialty cocktails and a rather extensive wine list.
This “American Kitchen and Bar,” as they call themselves, is the perfect spot for any romantic dinner because of the views of waters surrounding the restaurant. They have tempered glass walls that allow the views of the water to flood the dining room and offer everything from elegant lobster and oyster dishes to sushi, steak, and cocktails. Visit early and sit outside on a warm weather night to enjoy a cocktail while taking in the views.
Greenwich Avenue may be one of the best spots in Southern CT to look for upscale food and shopping. Home to a wide variety of over 25 shops ranging from pastry shops to clothing boutiques and everything in between, Greenwich Avenue is the place to beat. Why not top your romantic weekend trip off with a lavish gift for your sweetheart? (It’s also convenient for those of us who are notorious for forgetting to buy gifts…Not that we would know anything about that.)
You can pop into St. Moritz for a cannoli, then you can head over to Richards to shop for some cute new threads. Need some athletic apparel? Stop into Athleta and check out their trendy sportswear. If you have an obsession with shoes you can pay a visit to Shoes ‘N’ More to fulfill your shoe buying needs.
