Kayaking in Milford, Connecticut

This past weekend a friend and I took advantage of the sunny weather and kayaked Milford harbor. We found a public launch ramp located behind the Milford Public Library and only a short distance from Long Island Sound (click here for a map). The harbor is calm and easy to paddle, and brings you past a yacht club out to Long Island Sound. For a break, you can bring your kayaks ashore on Gulf Beach, as we did, and stop for a quick bite to eat at the cash-only snack stand.

You won’t need a permit to use the boat launch, but you will need one to park there. Additional information can be found on Milford’s website, here.  Those who are looking to rent a kayak should visit Tony’s Bike’s and Sports, located just a short drive away in downtown Milford, Connecticut.  They can be found on the web at http://www.tonysbikes.com or by calling (203) 878-5380.
