There’s plenty to do across Connecticut this weekend as the fall season gets into full swing.  The best known event this weekend is the Durham Agricultural Fair, taking place through Sunday.  Take you family to see top entertainment, crafts on the green, carnival rides and games and plenty more. There’s lots to eat, exhibits showcasing livestock, fruits, vegetables, art, baking, needlework, and photography.  For more information, visit: www.durhamfair.com.

The Stamford Museum holds its Native American Arts Festival Saturday from 11am to 3pm.  Visitors will have the opportunity to admire and purchase Museum-quality Native American artworks, while kids can participate in Native American games and crafts.  Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for children age 3 and older.  For more information, visit: www.stamfordmuseum.org.

Experience an enchanted recreation of a 16th century harvest festival at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire at the Lions Fairgrounds on Gilead St. in Hebron, CT.  Here you can explore New England’s largest Medieval Marketplace with more than 100 artisans and crafters; watch hours of themed entertainment daily, including jousting, armored combat, period music, and more; or sample an assortment of Renaissance food and desserts. The faire is open  on weekends from 10 a.m.-6 p.m beginning this weekend until October 18th.  For more information, visit: www.ctfaire.com.

If you’re looking for a multicultural experience, try the Pipes In The Valley Celtic Festival this Saturday in Hartford.  This Celtic music festival celebrates eight years at the Riverfront in Hartford, CT with bagpipes, Celtic diddling, Scottish drumming, step dancing, kids activities, highland games, and plenty of beer. This year’s event promises a day filled with fun, flavor and world-class entertainment. The festival runs from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. For more information, visit: www.pipesinthevalley.com.

Tibetfest takes place this weekend at the Goshen Fairgrounds for a celebration of Tibetan culture with sand mandala, music, dance, guest speakers, handicraft & food vendors, art and photography exhibits, artisans and outreach organization booths and much more.   The fair began Friday and continues through Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost: Adults, $10; students, $5; children under age 5, free. In Milford, 180 juried fine artists and handcrafters from coast to coast will be featured at the Milford Green Art Show on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm. Visitors will find a great variety of demonstrating artists, soothing classical music, and ethnic foods.

At the Pequot Museum, admission is free this Saturday for one person and a guest. Get your tickets by visiting www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday Teachers and up to three family members can also receive free admission with presentation of a school or union ID.  The day includes music by Emma Jo Mills Brennan (Wampanoag ) and her jazz ensemble, Native games, stories and videos in the Children’s Library, and presentations on primary sources in the Research Library and Archives.

In Mystic, come listen to local musicians play at the Gazebo as you stroll the shops of Olde Mistick Village. For musician line-up, visit www.oldemistickvillage.com. The event is free and open to the public.  At night, the Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration holds the Ocean Commotion Gala, an annual black-tie fundraiser to support the important work of Sea Research Foundation. The events includes a VIP reception, elegant gourmet dinner by Ocean Blue Catering, lively auction with a guest auctioneer from Sotheby’s and an after-party replete with dessert and cordials to enjoy while dancing to live music by the Cartells.
