Gallery Show featuring new paintings by Zider, Vitello, and Brown

Birds of the Outback

A temporary, interactive exhibit that allows guests to have close encounters with hundreds of Australian birds and feed them right from their hands. COST: $3 per person, plus aquarium admission. For more information, call (860) 572-5955.
Spring Wine Tasting at the Mark Twain House & Museum
Where: Mark Twain House & Museum, 351 Farmington Avenue Hartford, CT 06105 (map)
When: Fri, May 29, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
Fine wines, lite fair, and live music in the the Hartford home where Mark Twain lived and worked from 1874 to 1891. Sample a variety of different wines and finger foods while enjoying the soothing sounds of jazz music and an a capella women’s singing group. Free parking. Willimantic Riverfest
Where: Bridge Street, Willimantic (map)
When: Sat, May 30, 9am – 2pm
Event will include a “Rootbeer Float” down the Willimantic River, which is a casual float down the Willimantic River taking in all the beauty of the river and the properties along its shores. Participants can float down the river in any floatation device they prefer including boats, kayaks and canoes. The fee for the ride is $5 which includes a glass of rootbeer, insurance provided by the American Canoe Association and bus ride from the finish in Willimantic back to the starting point at Eagleville Dam in Coventry. There will also be a Kayak Kicker Ramp, and the River Festival which will include music, food, entertainment displays and activities. Merchants along Main Street will be offering themed specials to festival participants.
Pequot Lives in the Lost Century
Where: Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center, 110 Pequot Trail, Mashantucket, CT 06339 (map)
When: May 29 – 31 (Thru Sept. 12)
This new exhibit at the museum explores the lives and experience of the Pequot Indian community in the century leading up to the tribe’s rebirth in 1983. For more information call 1-800-411-9671.
