Birds of the Outback
When: Monday-Friday
Where: Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration, 55 Coogan Blvd., Mystic, CT 06355 (map)
The enclosed 1,200-square-foot aviary houses hundreds of colorful cockatiels, parakeets and rosellas, all native to Australia. With the $3 exhibit entry fee (plus aquarium admission), guests receive a millet seed stick for feeding the birds. Once inside the exhibit, where the friendly birds sing and fly freely, simply hold the stick in the air and watch them swoop down to perch on your arm and eat right out of your hands! Guests will also learn about the birds’ habitat and behaviors, as well as the issues and challenges currently facing birds in the wild. Cost is $3 plus aquarium admission per person.

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
When: Six week program beginning Monday, May 4th at 10am
Where: The Village at East Farms, 180 Scott Road, Waterbury, CT (map)
Less pain, more flexibility, and the sense of feeling better overall are what many people with arthritis gain from the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, a free low-impact class designed specifically for those with arthritis. The Village at East Farms senior living community will offer the six-week course at 10 a.m., Mondays and Thursdays, beginning May 4. Those interested in finding out more can call 203-757-7660.

Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts Senior Project Exhibition
When: Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm
Where: 84 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, CT (map)
Come see the Senior Project Exhibition at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM and the show runs through May 18, 2009.

Durham Farmer’s Market
When: Thu, May 7, 3pm – 6pm
Where: Durham Town Green, Durham, CT (map)
Come visit the picturesque Durham Town Green and enjoy fresh local food – such as veggies, fruit, dairy products, pies, breads, jams, spices, kettle corn, shellfish, veal, ice cream and more! The first Market on May 7 will feature beautiful CT Grown hanging baskets just in time for Mother’s Day. Costumed characters will be strolling the Green, and some weeks will feature local musicians for your listening pleasure!
