Memorial Day Parades in Connecticut

Here’s the most extensive guide we could provide to all of the Memorial Day taking place this weekend across Connecticut:


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10 a.m.
Where: Begins at the corner of Woodrow Street and Avenue and proceeds to the Town Hall. After the conclusion of the parade, a brief memorial service will be held at the West Hartford Veterans Memorial, located at the corner of Farmington Avenue and North Main Street.

Fairfield
When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10 a.m.
Where: Begins at South Pine Creek Road, then goes along Post Road to the Fairfield Public Library, then south along Old Post Road to Flint’s Corner, then east along Old Post Road passing the Town Green and continuing beyond South Benson Road.


When: Sunday, May 24, 2009, 1 p.m.
Where: Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Long Wharf. At 3 p.m. Mayor John DeStefano Jr. will make an address at the War Memorial on the New Haven Green. At 5 p.m., the 12th annual free concert at the Shubert Theatre will take place featuring Orchestra New England with conductor James Sinclair, Moxie and a reading by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.

When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 9 a.m.
Where: In Derby near Irving School & St. Mary’s School, and ending in Shelton on Canal Street. Featuring the Hurricanes and a jet flyover. This year’s parade will also honor the 100th anniversary of the founding of the of America, and the line of march will be packed with scouts of all varieties.


When: Sunday, May 24, 2009, 2 p.m.
Where: Begins at Nolan Field and ends in the Big Y parking lot. The parade will take place rain or shine.


When: Sunday, May 24, 2009, 2 p.m
Where: Begins at the Parsons Government Center and ends at the Town Green. The parade will take place rain or shine.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 2 p.m.
Where: Begins at the Harwinton Fairgrounds. The parade will proceed to Bull Road, then to South Road where it ends at the Center Green for a total of 1.5 miles.

Branford
When: Monday, May 25, 10:30 a.m
Where: Beginning and ending at the Town Green. Opening speeches beginning at 10 a.m. If it rains, ceremonies will be held at the Branford High School Gym.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10 a.m.
Where: Begins at Hamden High School and ends at the Memorial Town Hall. The parade will take place rain or shine.


When: Saturday, May 23, 2009, 10:30 a.m
Where: Begins at North Haven Middle School’s entrance on Bailey Road, and ends on Broadway. The town’s annual “KidFest” event will take place on the Town Green immediately following the parade.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 11 a.m.
Where: Begins at Post Office Square and ends at the Liberty Street Green. The parade will take place rain or shine.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10:30 a.m.
Where: Begins on Captain Thomas Boulevard and ends at the Town Green. If it rains the parade will be rescheduled for May 30th at 10:30 a.m..


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10:30 a.m.
Where: The normal parade will not be taking place this year. Rather, there will be a small procession of veterans to the Town Green for a ceremony. Begins at the American Legion Post 89 and ends at the Town Green.

Where: Begins and ends at the Town Green. The prade will take place rain or shine.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10 a.m
Where: Begins at Stop & Shop and ends at the American Legion Hall.

Orange
When: Sunday, May 24, 2009, 10:30 a.m.
Where: Begins at the High Plains Community Center and ends at Orange Cemetery.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 2 p.m.
Where: Begins at Academy Hill and ends at Paradise Green. The parade will take place rain or shine.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10 a.m.,
Where: Begins and ends at the Riggio Building. The parade will take place rain or shine.


When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 9:30 a.m.
Where: Begins and ends at Doolittle Park.

North Branford
When: Monday, May 25, 2009, 10 a.m.
Where: Begins at the end of the town and weaves throughout the town’s streets.


When: Sunday, May 24, 2009, 11:30 a.m.
Where: Begins at French Memorial Park off RT 67 and ends at the Community Center.
